Over the past year #educoachOC has discussed a wide range of topics. Having previously explored the nature of coaching conversations and the fundamental issue of trust, we started 2016 with a focus on establishing and fostering successful coaching relationships. Coaching as Route Finding considered the role of the coach in facilitating personalised learning for the coachee. Our next chat focused on supporting the needs of coaches and the importance of ongoing skill development and emotional support in what is an intellectually and emotionally draining role. In April, we broadened our focus again to consider different contexts for coaching in education and some issues around its introduction in schools. Next, we honed in on the fundamental coaching skill of listening and followed this with a consideration of the role of data in coaching and how we might differentiate coaching to meet the needs of the coachee. Having discussed a range of fundamental considerations, contextual factors and specific coaching skills, our September chat moved back to focus on the qualities of the coach with A Coaching Way of Being.
To finish the year we took a critical ‘big picture’ perspective and invited the #educoachOC community to think critically about coaching.
So, as this will be our final chat of 2016, we would like to invite you to review the #educoachOC year that has been. We are happy for this chat to be more open-ended than usual but we’ll use the following questions to help give it some structure:
- What has been your coaching (or professional learning/growth) highlight of 2016?
- Is there a coaching topic that you’d like to revisit and what questions do you have for the #educoachOC community?
- What are your goals for coaching in your context in 2017?
- What suggestions do you have for #educoachOC topics that might support your goals?
The chat will take place on Monday 5 December at 8.30pm Australian EDT.
Storify archives of all of our chats can be found here.
Thanks for your support and engagement in 2016 and we look forward to continuing the journey with you in 2017.
